HUBweek is hosting its final party on Saturday, October 1st at the SOWA Power Station. The event will feature multiple signature HUBweek experiences all rolled into one, including: music, projection, and art by the team behind Illuminus; the premier of “Brew the Charles” (see details below); and food from local purveyors. Running from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the party is family friendly, and a whole new take on space, art, science, and food. The event is open to the public, and tickets for the “Brew the Charles” tasting are available at www.HUBweek.org.
“Brew the Charles”
HUBweek and Desalitech are hosting the first-ever “Brew the Charles” competition to take place during HUBweek in September. Six Massachusetts breweries will be brewing their best possible beer made from purified Charles River water. The Brew the Charles competition builds on last year’s HUBweek event with Harpoon Brewery, in which Harpoon partnered with Desalitech to brew a limited edition Charles River Pale Ale. This year, participating breweries are encouraged to demonstrate their creativity and innovation by brewing any type of beer, which will be showcased and judged by an expert panel, their fellow brewers, and the audience. Audience members will have the opportunity to sample and vote on their favorites as part of the event, and a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Charles River Conservancy.
The participating breweries include Boston Beer Company; Cape Ann Brewing Company from Gloucester; Castle Island Brewing Company from Norwood; Harpoon Brewery from Boston; Idle Hands Craft Ales from Charlestown; and Ipswich Ale from Ipswich.
