Susan Krause

Krause is an abstract painter who uses oil, oil sticks, pastels, watercolor and gouache. She paints on canvas, panels, or paper. Color is always the starting point for Krause, and at her most successful point she allow the work at hand to tell her what it wants. Krause's visceral response to all that she sees, hears, tastes and the memory of those experiences infuse her work in unpredictable ways. As a former writer, Krause often thinks of her paintings as poems in paint instead of words. Krause teaches watercolor at The Boston Home, a residential care facility for people with advanced Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological diseases.
