Artists In Their Studios

  • United South End Artists 450 Harrison Ave Boston, MA 02118 (map)

Art is more than a picture, it’s an experience, a process, a celebration of the senses and of individual expression. The South End is one of Boston's most artistic and vibrant neighborhoods and home to hundreds of working artists. On January 26th from 11am to 5pm, rain or shine, the public is invited to see more than just original works of art as visitors meet the artists and get behind-the-scenes tours of their studios. Artists in Their Studios, sponsored by the United South End Artists (USEA), is a chance to experience the magic behind the art and come in from the cold to the warmth of local creativity. Artist studios will be open in six studio buildings throughout the South End. These are: 46 Waltham Street, 35 Wareham Street, 49 Wareham Street, 59 Wareham Street, 450 Harrison Ave and the Artist Studio Building at BCA, 551 Tremont Street. Visiting these buildings is an opportunity not to be missed.

Artists in Their Studios features USEA member artists working in all media including photography, painting, printmaking, mixed-media, sculpture, jewelry, illustration, and more. As a special treat, Local artist Diana Sironi will be demonstrating her creative process by creating sketches of visitors to the Artist Studio Building at BCA, at 551 Tremont Street. These sketches will be fast and free for you to bring home. Artists in Their Studios is a self-guided stroll through the neighborhood, and is free and open to all. A map of the event will be available at information tables located at the Artist Studio Building at BCA, and at the 450 Harrison Avenue artist building.

The USEA is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of artists who live and work in Boston’s South End. Its mission is to support local artists and to help promote the arts in the community by organizing opportunities and events for artists to show and publicize their work, including group shows and exhibits throughout the year.
