Vendor Selection & Deadlines:

We will jury all applications submitted between Jan 16 - Feb 16. After Feb 16, all applications will be approved on a first come, first served basis depending on availability and product mix.

This application is for Vendor submission only and does NOT guarantee admission. To ensure Market quality and cohesiveness, applications will be approved depending on product mix and availability. Vendor selection is at the sole discretion of SoWa Boston and is based on a number of factors including: quality, pricing, creativity, and visual appeal. Please be sure to provide a complete and accurate description of ALL products you wish to sell, as well as a link to your website or social media page. Any Vendor selling food products will be required to submit Health Department paperwork and fees before receiving final approval.


It is our goal to create a diverse farmers market featuring the best locally sourced products and specialty goods. We welcome local farms, wineries, cider houses, specialty food vendors, kitchen goods, and food services. If you are a local non-profit, entertainer, sponsor, or other entity looking to get involved, please email us at to inquire. 

Rates & Payments:

In 2018, there are 26 Market dates between May 6 and October 28. You may apply for the following options:

  • Weekly - $65 / day
    • 10' x 10' space - select as many dates as you'd like and pay as you go. Payments are due two weeks days before each market date. 
  • Full Season - $1,300
    • 10' x 10' space - select all 26 dates and save $390. Payments are due in full upon approval.
  • Farms (produce only) - No Cost
    • Farms growing and selling uncut fruits & vegetables may select dates at no cost.

SoWa Boston, in their sole discretion, will determine booth assignments in a fair and equitable manner based on the needs of the market and product mix. However, preference may be given to full season Vendors. The full season option will no longer be available as of June 1. If payments are not received when due, SoWa Boston reserves the right to remove Vendor from the schedule and give away their space.

Cancellations & Refunds: 

SoWa Boston must be notified of any cancellations  10 days prior to your Market date in order for you to receive a credit for a future date. Refunds will not be issued. Cancellations due to an emergency will be handled on a case-by-case basis. 

No-Show Policy:

If you are unable to attend a scheduled market for any reason, you must notify us ahead of time. If you fail to do so, you will be considered a "no-show". If you no-show more than once during the course of a season, SoWa Boston reserves to right to revoke your participation in all future markets. 

Weather Policy:

The SoWa Open Market is a "rain or shine" market. Weather closures will be at the sole discretion of SoWa Boston. We will be reasonable in our determination, but please keep in mind that the weather changes quickly in New England. As such, it is unusual that we will cancel a Market date unless the forecast predicts 100% rain within 24 hours of the start time. If the Market is closed due to inclement weather or runs less than four hours, you will be credited for a future market date. 

Set-Up and Take-Down:    

All Vendors must be set-up and ready by 9:30 AM and exit the market area within one hour after the Market closes. Any Vendor arriving after 9:30 AM without previous permission will forfeit participation for that day’s Market without refund.

Upon arrival, please check in with a SoWa Boston staff member and we will direct you to your assigned space. We cannot change booth assignments once we issue load-in times, so if you have any special requirements or requests, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance. 

Any Vendor that is running late MUST notify us. Vendors may not leave the Market early unless given permission by the Market manager. All Vendors are responsible for cleaning their surrounding area at the close of the Market, including removal of all trash and debris. 

Tents & Equipment:    

All Vendors must supply their own 10' x 10' white tent and all necessary displays, signs, tables, extension cords, and other equipment. All tents must be secured with 40 pound weight bags on EACH tent leg (160 pounds total). The Market can get very windy at times, so for safety purposes any vendors without proper weights will be asked to remove their tent and/or vacate the market. We have a limited number of electric outlets available, so please indicate your need for power on the application only if absolutely necessary. 

Please note: We do not have Wi-Fi or storage available. 

Booth Sharing:    

Sharing booths with another Vendor is not allowed unless permission is granted by SoWa Boston.  

Permits & Health Regulations:    

Boston's Inspectional Services Department requires that all food vendors obtain a valid permit to participate in any farmer's market. If you are conditionally approved to participate in the Market by us, you will be asked to fill out a Farmer's Market Application and mail it back to SoWa Boston along with the required $100 fee made payable to the City of Boston. This fee is paid once per Farmer's Market season, regardless of how many dates you select. We will then review the application to ensure compliance and submit it to Inspectional Services on your behalf. Please do not submit this application directly to Inspectional Services, or until you are conditionally approved by us. At the start of the season, and periodically thereafter, the Inspectional Services will conduct on-site inspections and then issue final permits.  

In order to participate all Vendors must at all times comply with the Inspectional Services Farmer's Market Regulations regarding sampling, packaging, labeling, handling, and food safety.


Upon submitting this application, Vendors agree to indemnify and hold harmless SOWA SOUTH LLC, SOWA NORTH LLC, GTI PROPERTIES INC, and their officers, agents and employees from and against all liabilities, loss, injuries, damages, and claims arising out of or related in any way to Vendor's participation in the SoWa Open Market. 

Market Management & Vendor Conduct:

SoWa Boston reserves the right to remove, deny or terminate any Vendor that in their sole judgement is being disruptive, rude, or detrimental to the peaceful operation of the Market. 

Smoking by Vendors on the Market premises is strictly prohibited. 

SoWa Boston reserves the right to request the removal of any products or items that they deem offensive, inappropriate, unsafe, or detracting from the quality of the Market. 

SoWa Boston reserves the right to remove, deny, or terminate any Vendor that misrepresents themselves or their products.

Vendors should immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Market manager. Any Vendor notified of any safety issue must immediately correct the issue, otherwise SoWa Boston reserves the right to terminate their participation in the Market. 

Any Vendor that is removed for behavior or safety issues will NOT be issued a refund.

SoWa Boston reserves the right to add or amend any reasonable rules and regulations at any time during and prior to the operation of the Market.
